V-C Foley: 5.0 out of 5 stars Less rodents in the shed
Firstly i really liked that these boxes are lockable to prevent children or interference with the poision inside, this was a key feature to me. The small hole allows rodents and pests into the box but need not worry about your feline and canine friends being harmed by it so you can safely leave this around your home without worry of them accidently getting into the box.We did have some sort of pest in our shed with signs of gnawing and droppings but a week after putting this out and the dropping have dramatically reduced so either one animal is coming less or a whole group is slowly getting poisoned - this could be a timely way to deter pests as they can take awhile to investigate and try the blue cubes but the bonus of not having to clear up dead animals like with traps is another big bonus to me.

Being lucky enough to live in a rural area also means being likely to be unlucky enough to have occasional rodent problems. The summer of 2023 doesn't seem to have been too bad but certainly in the early part of the summer I actually saw the odd rat scurrying around the base of the garden shed. And at one point one appeared from somewhere too close to the house and my dog gave chase. So knowing that they were about I was pleased to try this two pack of bait box and bait.I like the fact that the key to open the box is in a clip on the side of the box. This is OK if you never have inquisitive kids around (which I don't) and reduces the risk of me putting the key somewhere so safe I can't find it again. The bait comes in blocks which are threaded on to a thin metal rod and hung in the inner chamber of the box. This makes it highly unlikely that any will escape by accident. The small pellets which one can buy can find their way out of the box if it is disturbed. And you really do want to keep the pellets away from any creature or person. So, well made, well thought out and fairly priced. I have inspected the boxes a few days after I placed the bait in them and there is clear evidence of nibbling so hopefully that will result in fewer rodents in the vicinity of the house.
Julie D: 5.0 out of 5 stars Duo of lockable rodent bait boxes - plus plenty of bait...
My partner deals with exterminations and taking out the trash amongst other things. Ready Steady Defend is a brand he's used before and is very keen on. Two robust bait boxes - each suitable for both rats and mice - are included here. The bait boxes are lockable - an essential feature really, certainly if there are ever pets or children around. As we live rurally, vermin can be an issue as they come in off the fields. It's never been an issue in the house, only in the shed which, as it's held together by ivy - is no great surprise. These boxes are easy to bait - use protective gloves, disposables if possible. The package here is good value as not only do you get the pair of bait boxes, also included are two 250g bags of their excellent bait blocks which can be threaded onto the metal bars you'll find inside the boxes.

We kep a small amount of hens, and for some time, we have observed that their food often gets finished off by a family of rats. The cat can't get inside the coop, so the rats have a free reign over an increasing cost of organic layers pellets. TIme to send the rats to 'a new home'The rat bait boxes are well made and appear to comply with all the safety standards required. What I particularly like is the release mechanism that has a red plastic key that can be stored on the back of the bait box, always ready to open. The mechanism is pretty standard and foolproof.Inside each box is supplied a bag of strong chocolate smelling blue bait, similar to many other brands I've used. Also a holding rod for the bait and divider for reducing the size of access hole to the bait. The bait bags are standard plastic and the kit comes with 2 bags of 250g (25 X 10g blocks)The bags are not especially strong and they do not have a zip seal on them. this means the bait needs to be stored very carefully, ideally in a metal tin where the smell is constrained, and rats can't get inside. I would have also like to have seen at least one pair of garage fuel plastic gloves for bait handling. The box is weatherproof and the top lid seals inside a thin double ribbed gutter with drain holes to stop water entering the container box. It's impossible to access the bait except by a small rodent entering the box, turning the access corner and then seeing the bait. Always safe from fingers and pets! This is a good kit, but due the lack of plastic gloves, it's not complete for a beginner, who may be tempted to bypass this important safety precaution. Otherwise, the box and bait are first class and I'm confident will help to disperse the rat population around our chicken house.
